Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you charge and what payment methods do you accept?
My fee is $114+GST ($119.70) per 50-minute session.
I accept major credit cards and e-transfer.

Do you offer in-person sessions?
Yes! I meet with clients at my private and professional home office in Morden, MB.

Can I meet you before making an appointment?
Yes, I'd be happy to talk with you on the phone or over video in a free 15-minute consultation.
How many sessions will I need?
That is up to you. I recommend starting with a commitment of at least 5 sessions. I'll help you set specific goals for therapy so you can gauge when you have made the changes you desire. If insurance coverage is an important consideration for you, we can plan therapy according to how many sessions your plan allows.
How frequent will our sessions be?
I recommend weekly or biweekly sessions. Longer-term therapy may occur less often or as needed.
How are video sessions delivered?
I use Jane, a high-quality, user-friendly telehealth platform that is secure, encrypted and privacy legislation compliant.
Is video therapy less effective than in-person counselling?
Research indicates that video therapy is just as effective as in-person counselling.
Are there any advantages to video counselling?
Meeting online is more convenient for people who live in remote areas or have transportation challenges. Video counselling can be easier to fit into your day since there is no added transportation time. Whereas an in-person appointment must be cancelled if the client or therapist is ill, sometimes they are well enough to meet online.

What else is important to know about video counselling?
A strong and reliable internet connection and access to a private space are necessary for virtual counselling to be a positive experience. I recommend setting up a comfortable space ahead of time, testing your audio and video, and closing any other programs on your computer.
When do you offer appointments?
I offer daytime appointments from Monday to Friday. You are welcome to view and use my online booking calendar.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours notice for all appointment changes and cancellations. Late cancellations will be charged 50% of the regular fee, whereas no-shows will be charged the full session fee.

Is counselling covered through insurance?
Many extended health insurance benefits cover counselling by a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). Please check your plan's coverage for eligibility. I do not offer direct billing, but I am a registered provider with several insurance providers including Manitoba Blue Cross; I will provide a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.
